Post-Construction Anti-Termite Treatment

Subterranean termites travel constantly from their nests in the ground to the wood, or other cellulose bearing material up on which they feed. They make their trips only inside wood or in the mud tubes, which they construct. Termites excavate the wood in such a manner that only a very thin shell is left on the surface between their cavities and the outside. When shell is broken, they cover the hole with the same type of material with which they make their tubes. In buildings already constructed, the barrier can be made with an appropriate termiticide.

The crucial areas or points of probable infestation can be:
- External area / garden very near to walls / foundation.
- Floor and wall joints
- Construction / expansion joints
- All wooden members like door, window and ventilator frames etc.
- Furniture, fixtures, panelling, false ceiling etc.
Generally spraying of chemicals on wood already in place gives only a surface treatment and only rarely penetrates to the centre of the wood therefore chemicals injected in to the cavities made by termites provide much better treatment.
- Entry Points of all incoming electrical, telephone, TV cable etc.
- Entry Points of water pipes and exit points of drainage lines.
The one thing, which we are trying to do in subterranean termite control, is to attempt to make it impossible for termites to move between their nests in the ground, and the wood in a structure, which provide them with a source of food.
